Description

Villa Arcadia is a historic villa located on the provincial road from Rapallo to Santa Margherita Ligure, at the entrance to the San Michele di Pagana district.

The history of the building and its construction phases has been reconstructed through historical photographic documentation since there is no ancient cartography available. The first building, which was originally the gatehouse of Villa Pareto Spinola, dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Later, the building was expanded and turned into a terraced residential building with a three-level arched body to the east. Another construction phase, dating back to the 1920s-1930s, resulted in the construction of a three-story building with a tower that is slightly off-center from the facade.

The building is an example of 19th-century architecture on the Riviera, with a classic-eclectic style that avoids explicit references to Art Nouveau and floral motifs. Due to its historical and artistic significance, it was designated a Monumental Heritage Site by the Superintendency of Genoa in 2012.

The current project aims to first ensure the safety and stability of the building, which currently has collapsed roofs and some incomplete floors. Subsequently, a conservative restoration will be carried out to restore the building to its former beauty and grandeur. Internally, the project involves the construction of three luxury apartments within the Villa. To ensure an equal distribution of space, the housing units will divide the Villa vertically, providing all apartments with a wonderful sea view from the upper floors.
